"Delta Sig Dogs is a philanthropic event led by the men of Delta Sigma Phi and the ladies of Gamma Phi Beta. Each year we invite the K-State community, as well as the Manhattan community to join us at Delta Sig and meet the all dogs and puppies from the Four Paws Animal Rescue of Kansas. Four Paws is a not-for-profit organization, privately funded and ran solely on donations, fundraising, and adoptions. Four Paws was established in 2010 as one of a few “No-Kill” animal shelters in the country, to help lessen euthanasia at local animal shelters. Four Paws is an advocate and promoter of responsible pet ownership and educates the public importance of spaying/neutering dogs. In the first year of Delta Sig Dogs, Delta Sig and G-Phi raised approximately $3000 for Four Paws Animal Shelter. In addition to the money raised, multiple puppies and dogs were adopted at the event."

This year, Delta Sig dogs helped four puppies find families and gathered over $3,000 in donations that go entirely to Four Paws Animal Shelter. The event was inspiring and shows the true meaning philanthrophy. Delta Sig Dogs is a production at least four months in the making with planning that Delta Sig philanthropy chairs Hunter Post and Ryan Khoury led with the help of Gamma Phi Beta philanthropy chair, Abby Hoelting.

"I would say, clear back to February Ryan Khoury and I began emailing and making phone calls planning for this event, but we also have help from Gamma Phi Beta philanthropy chair, Abby Hoelting, and all three of us between the t-shirt design, food and just delegating work for the event have been working on making this event great," said Delta Sig philanthropy chair, Hunter Post.

Delta Sig Dogs has been an philanthropy tradition between Delta Sigma Phi, Gamma Phi Beta and Four Paws Rescue of Kansas for the past four years and it's no secret why the fraternity partnered up with the local "No-Kill" shelter.

"It’s definitely worth it, all of the hard work, today seeing everyones smiles and knowing the smiles these puppies are going to bring to the four families that have adopted them and also knowing that these puppies were fortunate to end up at Four Paws animal shelter because who knows where they would be if it weren’t for Four Paws," said Post.

This philanthropy is destined to get bigger and better each year, which is the goal, according to Post. The work, time and commitment poured into helping the homeless pet population of Manhattan is so inspiring, people from all over the state are pulled towards the event driving from hours away to donate and help out.

"I’ve gotten to know Quentin and Rebecca, owners of Four Paws, and they are really kindhearted people and they have the love and passion for animals that we want to show through our event. It’s amazing to see the support we get from the Manhattan community and from the K-State community. Even a family from two hours away showed up and donated so it impacts an area far past K-State’s campus and we’re really fortunate to have it here at Delta Sig as our philanthropy and we put a lot of hard work into and we love it," said Post.
